LUIS F. MARTINEZ

Obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Law from the ITESM, Monterrey Campus in 1997 and obtained a Master's Degree in International Commerce Regulation from the University of Arizona in 1999. Provides counseling on various legal matters relating to international business. His widest experience centers on the interpretation and application of trade agreements with the United States, Canada, the European Union, Colombia and Venezuela, Chile, Israel and others. His practice includes consulting and litigation in customs, regulations and non-tariff restrictions, international commercial transactions, foreign investment and regulation of export programs, including the IMMEX program. Luis worked at Basham, Ringe y Correa and Baker & McKenzie in the areas of international trade and customs. He currently has over 20 years of experience.

Before starting his private practice, Luis was a professional researcher on topics relating to unfair practices in international trade, foreign investment and customs at the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade in Tucson, Arizona, USA, as well as at the Legal Center for Inter-American trade of the ITESM, Monterrey Campus. He has given classes on international trade regulations, comparative law of international trade, NAFTA, customs law and international economic law as professor at private and public universities in Mexico.

Luis has published several studies and articles on international trade, NAFTA, customs topics and investment in legal magazines in the US, Canada and Mexico. He has been a speaker in multiple forums and conferences at the national and international levels.

He is a member of the Mexican Bar Association, the U.S. Mexico Bar Association (USMBA), the Mexican Institute of Foreign Trade Executives and of the International Section of the American Bar Association.

JORGE G. MARTÍNEZ

Jorge G. Martínez Garza started his practice in 2009.  He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in Law at the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Monterrey Campus in 2011 and completed his Master's Degree in Tax Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (thesis in progress). Jorge is a member of the Mexican Bar Association, Nuevo León Chapter, and participates continuously in congresses relating to the areas of customs and tax law. 

His professional practice includes the areas of foreign trade and customs, as well as real estate law and corporate law, including legal advice to clients from different industries for the structuring and during the process of their import and export operations under different models; counseling on Official Mexican Standards and other tariff and non-tariff regulations and restrictions on import and exports, in the Certification Scheme of Companies under VAT and IEPS modalities and Authorized Economic Operator in addition to legal counseling in relation to the authorization and operation of customs regimes, such as Bonded Warehouses and Free Trade Zones. Jorge has also advised international clients on foreign trade and customs audits, both preventive and audits conducted by the authorities.

ANDREA Y. ELIZONDO CASTILLO

Andrea Y. Elizondo Castillo is currently studying law in Facultad Libre de Derecho de Monterrey. She works in the law firm as of November 2018. Andrea has done internships in various companies and legal firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers and in private offices, which has allowed her to know different areas of law such as corporate, tax and administrative.

She has held positions as president in her own student board and has been vice president of the chapter Salinas Martínez Inn, which belongs to the international fraternity for law students and international lawyers Phi Delta Phi. She is an active member of the Asociación Nacional de Abogados de Empresa, Colegio de Abogados A.C. She has participated in various diplomate courses and seminars. She speaks Spanish, English, French and Korean.

CARLOS PÉREZ DEL TORO

Carlos Pérez del Toro curso sus estudios de licenciatura en el Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM) en donde se tituló con la tesis: “Problemática Fiscal del Comercio Electrónico Internacional”. También tiene estudios de maestría en derecho fiscal en Georgetown University Law Center ubicada en la ciudad de Washington, D.C. y en la Universidad Panamericana, en la Ciudad de México.

Se especializa en impuestos federales y estatales incluyendo el análisis de operaciones internacionales. 

 Asesora a compañías nacionales e internacionales en planeación, consultoría y negociación. Tiene experiencia en reestructuras corporativas, diseño de estructuras de negocio eficiente y asesoramiento en manejo de patrimonios. 

 Dentro de su práctica también asesora a sus clientes en transacciones comerciales, fusiones y adquisiciones, alianzas estratégicas, y contratos en general. 

 Durante más de 20 años de práctica ha asesorado a sus clientes de manera exitosa en operaciones de diversas, incluyendo sin limitar, transacciones inmobiliarias, entretenimiento, aeronáutica y en arbitraje comercial.

 Anteriormente estuvo como socio en despachos ubicados en la Ciudad de México. En el año 2004, participó en el programa para asociados extranjeros que ofrece Cleary Gottlieb en su oficina de Nueva York.

JOEL GÓMEZ

Abogado bilingüe egresado del ITESM con maestría y estudios de posgrado en Estados Unidos y Reino Unido. Ha trabajado como abogado de empresa (12 años), abogado de despacho (10 años) y profesor de licenciatura y posgrado (20 años). Tiene formación gerencial en empresas transnacionales (British American Tobacco y NCR). Es receptor de más de 10 reconocimientos nacionales e internacionales. Es miembro honorario de Phi Delta Phi, la sociedad legal internacional de honores más grande del mundo.

Como profesor, abogado y conferencista, se ha dedicado desde 1996 a las áreas de Derecho Informático, Datos Personales y Propiedad Intelectual, publicando desde entonces más de 150 artículos en periódicos y revistas especializadas. En los últimos 22 años ha sido invitado a impartir más de 450 cursos y conferencias sobre derecho informático en foros académicos, gubernamentales y profesionales de Brasil, Canadá, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, España, Estados Unidos, Guatemala, Italia, Panamá, México y Asia.

En el 2003 el Maestro Gómez fue designado "Perito en Derecho Informático" ante los Órganos del Poder Judicial Federal, único perito en el 4º Circuito y uno de los 3 peritos en dicha especialidad a nivel nacional. Es creador y conductor de “Abogado Digital”, el primer programa de TV en Iberoamérica dedicado a discutir temas de derecho y tecnologías de la información. 

Se ha distinguido por ser un apasionado litigante en el ámbito de la propiedad intelectual digital, habiendo presentando numerosas controversias para recuperar nombres de dominio ante la Organización Mundial de la Propiedad Intelectual. CHRISTIAN BASURTO

Obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Law at the Universidad Anáhuac, where he was President of the Law Students’ Association, and he graduated from this university with the thesis on “Modernization of the Legal and Operating Framework of Customs in Mexico.” He completed a Master's Degree in Public Administration (graduate) at the Universidad Anáhuac. He has also obtained several graduate diplomas in Tax and Administrative Law from the Escuela Libre de Derecho. Christian Basurto, MPA, specializes in Administrative and Regulatory Law, including foreign trade and health topics before COFEPRIS. Throughout his career, he has advised both national and international companies, implementing good opportunities for his clients through sophisticated legal strategies. He is Director of an authorized third party of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Sanitary Risk (COFEPRIS) and he participates actively in congresses within the health sector in Mexico and abroad. Christian Basurto, MPA has also acted as adviser at Basham Ringe & Correa, a leading Firm in foreign trade and tax law in Mexico City, and as counsel for a family-owned customs agency.
